Stats reveal even keel

Insurers have experienced a 0.5% decrease in premiums placed for intermediated general insurance, presenting evidence of a levelling market.

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has released its Intermediate General Insurance Statistics, showing premiums places with APRA-authorised insurers down by just $39 million.

General insurers placed $8,009 million in first half of 2015 FY, compared to $8,048 million in premiums in the first half of 2014 FY.

Business placed with unauthorised foreign insurers (UFI) climbed by 5.2%, from $709 million in 2014 to $746 million in 2015.
