WARREN TICKLE AWARD WINNER REPORTS FROM LONDON

Young broking’s hottest asset in 2012, Amanda Marinis, has reported back from the once-in-a-lifetime London trip her victory in last year Warren Tickle Memorial Award earned her.

“Working in the Marsh London office was definitely eye-opening,” the Marsh Senior Account Manager says. “I had a fantastic time networking with international colleagues and exchanging best practice ideas.

“Over the course of the trip I had the opportunity to meet with a number of senior colleagues and gain some invaluable insights into the UK business, while sharing some of the great work that we have been delivering in Australia.”

“The meetings have allowed me to develop new relationships that will provide further opportunities for collaboration in the future.
I also got to visit Marsh’s Head of International Business office, which was a great way to build my profile within the Marsh community.”

As part of her prize, Marinis also had the opportunity to access the inner sanctum of Lloyd’s of London.

“The tour of Lloyd’s of London included a meet-and-greet with key underwriters on placements that I have been involved with in recent years,” she says. “The opportunity to experience the London market in person and extend my professional network has been invaluable.”

But it wasn’t all business; Marinis made time to balance her work schedule with sightseeing with her husband and two children.

“I think my kids have now seen even more of London than I have. They spent a few at the Natural History Museum, the European Carnival and the Aquarium all while I was working.”

Marinis says her entire involvement with the Vero-sponsored award has been remarkable.

“It all started with a nomination. Everything from that point on has unraveled like a dream,” she says.

“I’m on the other side of the world with my family enjoying an incredible holiday, I’ve boosted my career and I’ve gained so many memories that I’ll cherish for a long time to come.”

This year’s Warren Tickle Memorial Award winner will be announced at the NIBA Convention in October.
